Teraport DMU-Toolkit 4.5: Extended and optimized functions of mounting simulation tools

The current DMU-Toolkit release 4.5. contains multiple improvements and advancements. These allow an even more efficient and flexible use of Teraport’s software-toolbox. Our software developers provided a foundation for further innovation, which should affirm Teraport’s leading market position. A special focus lay on the functional extension and improvement of the tools for mounting and demounting simulation (DMU.Planner and DMU.Motion). Mr. Raphael Heilig, managing director of Teraport GmbH says: „Release 4.5 is a further milestone regarding sustainability. We thereby offer highest quality software solutions in the field of DMU (Digital-Mockup), with a maximum of flexibility and functionality.”

Performance:

Release 4.5 offers the tools for mounting/demounting simulation and fluid analyzing as 64-bit enabled versions. This lets users, given the accordant operating system, process triangulated 3D-models of 50-million polygons or more. In the same manner the needed calculation times have been significantly reduced.

Functionality and Flexibility

The automatic path planning of a collision free demounting path with DMU.Planner works now with predefined conditions for every single one of the environment models. The user is able to set allowed distance and collision values. A part, which needs to be demounted past a sealing being represented by a rigid CAD-model, can be simulated respecting a user defined maximum collision value towards that special, in reality soft and flexible, part.

Strategic expansion of the Teraport solution at MAGNA STEYR Fahrzeugtechnik

Following its expansion to cover a number of vehicle projects within the Company, the Teraport solution for the automated geometry checking process is now being strategically employed for quality assurance at MAGNA STEYR Fahrzeugtechnik AG & Co. KG. With this solution the individual components of the digital prototype are examined in respect of collision situations and clearance spaces. A decisive factor for the choice of Teraport’s software solution was its integration capability into heterogeneous system landscapes (PDM and CAD systems).

Teraport speech on the 3. International Symposium at the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences

On invitation from the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences, Raphael Heilig (Salesmanager at Teraport GmbH) gave a practical speech at the 3. International Symposium “Geometric modelizing, visualisation and image editing“. Beside many theoretical lectures, the contribution “Application of efficient algorithm in automotive engineering“ informs about the automated implementation of the algorithm in practice. Increases in efficiency, which could be achieved by the use of an integrated and automated geometric clash and clearance analysis were demonstrated.

Teraport: New DMU-Toolkit release 3.3 and acquisition of software from Bytes + Lights

In the new DMU-Toolkit release 3.3, Teraport GmbH has further developed a number of the modules. Teraport’s clients stand to benefit directly from this development.
The geometry testing process, and in particular the neighbor search feature, has been completely revised. Thanks to so-called “local space maps”, the identification of proximity relationships in a digital product comprising many thousands of components can be carried out in a time span of seconds or minutes. The precision of neighbor search has also been optimized. This facilitates the achievement of results which have been improved by up to a factor of 3. This also has a direct influence on geometry testing and considerably reduces the calculation times of DMU.Check.
The further development of this tool is rounded off with a new system of rules (arbitrarily complex calculation rules which can be applied to any metadata), and the new Java API (application programming interface) which, for example, facilitates direct and easy integration into PDM systems. This allows us to respond to our clients’ requirements in an even more flexible manner.
