Teraport introduces release 5.2.

Last week Teraport introduced version 5.2. of its flexible software toolbox DMU-Toolkit. The lastest release offers the companies customers a broad range of new functions and enhancements. It starts with the new Pro.PathFinder and Pro.PathFreezer integrations into DMU.View Teraport’s own 3D visualization viewport. The modules well known core functionality of mounting and demounting simulation and the calculation of swept volumes can be accessed way more comfortable through the new integration workbenches. Especially for Pro.PathFinder the integration comes with a new set of functions like a favourite planning direction and the easy definition of flexible part in a calculations assembly environment.

Research project RASAND: Teraport GmbH as a cooperation partner of the University of Applied Sciences (HfT) Stuttgart and University of Mainz

The complex and challenging requirements in developing Digital Mockup software solutions call for a permanent examination of new technology and innovations. Therefore Teraport GmbH is eager to invest into research and development so that they can offer their customers algorithms state of the art.
Teraport GmbH is pleased is pleased to announce a partnership with HfT Stuttgart and the University of Mainz two competent partners in the scope of science specialized on complex algorithms. In the context of a funded project of the “Federal Ministry of Education and Research” (BMBF) named “FHProfUnt” (Research on Universities of applied sciences in cooperation with companies) Teraport GmbH as an industrial partner realizes a research program with the two universities. The BMBF assessed the joint project named RASAND (Robust algorithms for distance calculations with great amounts of moving triangles) despite rigorous selection criteria as high innovative and as a result ensured the funding. The goal in RASAND is to develop new approaches for dynamic distance analysis of movable components in complex products as for example automobiles. Mrs. Prof. Wolpert the proposer from the HFT Stuttgart defines the goals as follows: “In RASAND we want to develop algorithms and software which execute efficient and reliable distance analysis for movements consisting of triangle mass data. In order to manage the large amount of data the new algorithms will especially make use of the parallelization mechanisms of modern hardware.”

Teraport congratulates on granting of doctorate!

There is a reason to congratulate. Mister Stefan Wittmann, member of Teraport’s software development team, has the privilege to own a doctors degree. The specialist in algorithm programming has earned the honor at the “Lehrstuhl für Konstruktionstechnik” of “Friedrich-Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg”.  Dr. Wittmann’s scientific research under the title of “Procedures for simulation and analysis of the effects of tolerance-related deviation of components” deals with a phenomenon that still is a major challenge in product development. To simulate the deviation of components due to complex production processes and their impact on whole assemblies, early in the development process, can help avoid high consequential costs. While existing methods concentrate on statistical interpretation of dramatically simplified models with deviations, the new developed principle focuses on the combination of complex geometrical deviations of several parts to non ideal assemblies and their analysis. “We are proud to congratulate Dr. Wittmann on this important success,” says Marcus Trommen head of software development at Teraport GmbH. “Even more, we are happy that substantial knowledge and experiences e.g. on geometrical positioning algorithms will be transferred into the technology of our DMU-Toolkit in the future.”

Teraport DMU-Toolkit 4.5: Extended and optimized functions of mounting simulation tools

The current DMU-Toolkit release 4.5. contains multiple improvements and advancements. These allow an even more efficient and flexible use of Teraport’s software-toolbox. Our software developers provided a foundation for further innovation, which should affirm Teraport’s leading market position. A special focus lay on the functional extension and improvement of the tools for mounting and demounting simulation (DMU.Planner and DMU.Motion). Mr. Raphael Heilig, managing director of Teraport GmbH says: „Release 4.5 is a further milestone regarding sustainability. We thereby offer highest quality software solutions in the field of DMU (Digital-Mockup), with a maximum of flexibility and functionality.”

Performance:

Release 4.5 offers the tools for mounting/demounting simulation and fluid analyzing as 64-bit enabled versions. This lets users, given the accordant operating system, process triangulated 3D-models of 50-million polygons or more. In the same manner the needed calculation times have been significantly reduced.

Functionality and Flexibility

The automatic path planning of a collision free demounting path with DMU.Planner works now with predefined conditions for every single one of the environment models. The user is able to set allowed distance and collision values. A part, which needs to be demounted past a sealing being represented by a rigid CAD-model, can be simulated respecting a user defined maximum collision value towards that special, in reality soft and flexible, part.
